The very first time
"This will feel a little cold," says the doctor while rubbing gel over her belly, "is your hearing aid on?"
Yes, she nods anxiously.
The ultrasound probe scans her abdomen, blurry images appear on the screen and she suddenly hears it for the very first time.
Her baby's heart beating.
