Was awoken early in the morning or late at night, depending how you look at it. It was about 2:00. What woke me were three racoons. The companionway was only closed by the canvas flap and not fully battened down. A sneaky and brave one of the racoons had come into the cabin and grabbed the garbage bag plus a bag of BBQ peanuts. They were still having their snack when out of my bunk and turning on the lights. Opening the curtains they brazenly looked right back at me. This colony of racoons are pretty tamed it seemed. Tried taking a pic yet the lighting seemed too dark.
Being awake anyway thought to play a little Shroud of the Avatar. Finally found my way out of a mine which my character had been lost in and was able to get back to my home base and sell off some of an overloaded inventory; placing in storage other items that will be useful in later game play. By about 3:00 feeling tired headed back to the bunk and was shortly asleep again.
Awoke a few hours later and lounged on board having some coffee and doing a little internet-ting.
There was a long email from Jason outlining the itinerary that he had planned for our next instructional get together. It is planned over the weekdays starting August 12th. Time is ticking,
Also found an email from my Radio course instructor giving an exam question review which is a series of questions for us to study. Questions that we might expect on the exam. That should make it a little easier! Must make my appointment to be tested while it is all still fresh in the mind.
Got motivated to do some stowing of some gear that was still in boxes. Bagged them instead and stowed them behind the starboard bench.
The head was cleared out again. Boat life seems a non-stop stowing and restowing items through the vessel.
Having talked to Chris about the most expedient means to deal with the toilet it was decided to stay with the potty setup for now and then order a compostable toilet when there is a week or more to wait for its delivery. That will most likely be Halifax. Will have to remove the head that is presently installed to use the potty which is presently sitting on top of the fixed toilet; yet not connected to a tank or anything.
By mid-morning with most of the boxes now bagged and stowed away headed over to the Marina's Office to pay my fees. We worked out a payment that would give another week on the hard and then another week in the guest slip. This would bring us up to a day or so shy of our planned departure date of August 12th with a splash date of 10:00 on August 7th. The insurance would have to be my main focus this coming week after, hopefully, discussing it with Chris this Monday.
Took the bus up the bluffs for some supplies and returned to hang out on the cockpit in the shade of the newly installed Bimini; although it was really kind of a hazy and humid day rather than a sunny scorcher. Did some reading of the Radio text as well as going over tool and parts suggested listings from the "Passage Making" text book. Also did some reading of my friend Dave Baird's () book, "Comet Strike". Plan to do a review on it when finished yet it is available on Amazon is my understanding.
Touched base with my Daughter and all seems fine with them.
More internet-ting, much of it YouTubing, and even some Shroud game play. Then finally hit the bunk by very early evening.
Some productivity in a somewhat relaxing day.
May the wind be at your back!
