LONDON (Reuters) - Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah revealed the moment he realized his past career with Chelsea had ended.
Salah had previously played for Chelsea, but he did not get a chance to go to Serie A, especially with Fiorentina and Roma, before returning to the English Premier League last summer, but from Liverpool.
Salah is preparing to lead the Reds on Sunday in front of his old team at Stamford Bridge in the 36th round of the English Premier League.
"Tbilisi between the two rounds of Norwich City at Stamford Bridge by Jose Mourinho was the last nail in the coffin of my career with the Blues," Salah told the Sun newspaper.
"I realized I would not get my chance with Chelsea and I had to leave," said the 25-year-old Egyptian.
"I'm not the person who accepts to sit on the bench, just to boast that he belongs to a big club, I want to play continuously."
"I went to Fiorentina, then to Rome, and performed well there. When I had the opportunity to return to England with Liverpool, I said well, this is the right time to go back and try to prove myself again at Premiership."
He has made great strides with Liverpool this season and has been the top scorer in the Premier League with 31 goals. He has also won the Premiership Player of the Year award, as well as leading the Reds to the Champions League final.
