So I have recently visited Salina Turda, an old salt mine, located deep underground, transformed in to an amusement park! Once you visit the Cluj-Napoca area in Romania, Salina Turda is a must to visit!
After driving 30 minutes from Cluj-Napoca, I arrived to the entrance of Salina Turda. What you see there, are little souvenirs shops, lined up next to eachother (a little bit in christmas market style), selling al sorts of souvenirs, including himalayan salt lamps. After passing those shops, you get to the entrance of the salt mine, and have to buy a ticket to get inside.
Once you are inside you will go down in to a long tunnel, passing some small things like a restaurant and museum, untill you eventually reach the mine. Once you reach it, you will have to walk down 3 floors with the stairs, or wait in line for the elevator.
Once you are down you can enjoy several activites like minigolf, bowling, pool, ferris wheel, amphitheater and there is a playground for the kids. Once you have seen enough, you can go down even further more, to the deep waters of the salt mine, and rent a boat!
To be honest, after 2 hours wondering around in this huge man made cave, I had seen enough! We went up again and once I got up, I bought 2 himalayan salt lamps for home as souvenir!
