Tz'utujil: Es el hogar de la etnia Tz'utujil, uno de los 22 grupos mayas de Guatemala, que mantiene vivas sus costumbres y su lengua ancestral.
Maximón: Aquí es donde se venera al enigmático Maximón, una deidad sincrética que representa la dualidad del bien y del mal, y a quien se le ofrecen ofrendas como tabaco y licor.
Artesanía y textiles: Sus textiles son famosos por sus diseños intricados y sus colores vibrantes, hechos a mano por artesanas locales. ¡Cada huipil cuenta una historia!
Historia y resiliencia: Santiago Atitlán es un símbolo de resiliencia y lucha. Durante el conflicto armado, el pueblo sufrió un trágico masacre, pero se levantó con fuerza, preservando su identidad y su espíritu.

Fun Facts about Santiago Atitlán:
Tz'utujil: It is the home of the Tz'utujil ethnic group, one of Guatemala's 22 Mayan groups, who keep their ancestral customs and language alive.
Maximón: This is where the enigmatic Maximón is worshipped, a syncretic deity that represents the duality of good and evil, and to whom offerings such as tobacco and liquor are made.
Handicrafts and textiles: Their textiles are famous for their intricate designs and vibrant colors, handmade by local artisans. Every "huipil" (blouse) tells a story!
History and resilience: Santiago Atitlán is a symbol of resilience and struggle. During the armed conflict, the town suffered a tragic massacre, but it rose up with strength, preserving its identity and spirit.
