THE MOTORCYCLIST (cont. from a recent post "Tenacity")
My host did a fine job in making sure I enjoyed my stay in Lagos. He is a fine gentleman married to a beautiful and hardworking wife. My o my! these guys may not upload pictures on facebook very often but they are happily married. They are believers, like true believers. Those of you waiting for me to mention their name so that you can go and relax in their home if you visit Lagos, you have failed. I'm not an "amebor" like you.
Me, I didn't know if you are in Lagos and someone packages a room for you, a really nice room attached with a personal convenience in Somolu, the person is comfortable until I decided to visit a relative in a location my next post will address the lessons learnt. It was quite a journey and an eye opener.
You see this website, lara.ng? It really helped me. Guess who told me about this site, my host. "Rich people sabi things were the make life easy ehn". I will just type my location and it will bring out the route with the estimated transport fair and ETA (Expected Time of Arrival) and I will be forming like someone that has stayed in Lagos for long and knows the terrain.
I needed to make a trip from Ajah to Ojuelegba and when I entered the destination in the site, lara.ng gave me the route. I followed the path prescribed on the site to a point but decided to ask a motorcyclist who looked and sounded like the "omniscient 1 of Surulere, the knower of all the roads in Mainland and the first commissioner of direction, Lagos State". The way he sounded, I just believed him and veered off the accurate direction provided by a trusted informer (lara.ng). Interestingly this direction he gave me took me backward.
In life, you will always find these type of people at different junctions. They may look real, handsome, beautiful, rich, educated or even go to church but their task is to make sure you don't make meaningful progress. They try to discourage you from holding on to your dreams, Christian virtues or personal values. They give you reasons to believe that what you dream of is an illusion. They don't add to you, don't want you to add them but they want to take from you.
Some of them are your boyfriends/girlfriends, class mates, colleagues, friends or even senior friends. Me I won't tell you what to do oooo before somebody will come and say I said you should reduce the time spent with some people. Nevertheless, I don't think this will be too much to ask.
