Another heartbreaking tale from Brooklyn: a 13-year old boy kills himself while leaving a suicide note behind that testifies to the extensive emotional and physical assaults he had to endure. Suicide is never the answer and I'm not undermining the child's agency. BUT communities can take a greater role in preventing bullying. For all of the modern's convenience, there doesn't seem to be much room for kindness or integrity.
Schools, if the torture, humiliation and death of your own students, do not goad you into action, then perhaps lawsuits will?
RIP Daniel Fitzpatrick.
