Been wanting to do a freewriting blog post for quite a while now. I don't really use the technique and would love to try it out, but I have not gotten around to doing it.
I felt the urge to free-write a couple of days ago and it did not really turn out as I expected. For one, I paused too long to do other things at home and lost momentum. I did not really have a topic in the first place and that made me crazy. And I was thinking too much about structure, grammar, etc. Made me lose the "mindset" that I thought would have been perfect for this experiment: "to not give a damn about what I write about."
Anyways, I would still like to share what I did after a couple of days of "freewriting".
Quick Fix Solutions Are The Best
In a post that I uploaded a couple of weeks ago, I talked about being conditioned to finding quick-fix solutions to everyday problems - from eating instant noodles to avoid cooking a decent breakfast to "sharing" a few bottles of beer with my math professor versus makeup classes to pass his subject, etcetera. There are countless examples that I won't be mentioning here, but you get the idea. I hope... :)

I also mentioned being a working student, even if I didn't really need to, because my parents were giving me enough financial support to focus on my studies. Long story short, I had extra money for after-school activities, but the lack of focus on schoolwork eventually caught up with me. I stayed longer than I should have but enjoyed university life much more than an ordinary student would have.
Somehow, it worked out well for me. The experience I gained from being a working student led me to understand work ethic, to being a responsible employee, to getting more responsibilities at work. Knowing about the subtle differences between working in a fast-food kitchen versus a call center floor versus a nonprofit work environment is nice to know but not that useful. lol
Blabbering About My Life As A Yuppie
I got the chance to consult with micro-entrepreneurs and a few big ones that I won't mention here. I became obsessed with entrepreneurship and how to help people who chose the challenging life of an entrepreneur versus entering the familiar rat race.
In the poorest sectors of the city, I found out that entrepreneurship is one of the most effective ways for people to escape poverty.
There are other paths but if one cannot afford the high cost of education nor go through training to become a seafarer or don't have the skills to run for elective office at the barangay level, this is the best way to do it.
I have seen many people who barely read or write become successful entrepreneurs. The sky is the limit for entrepreneurs.
The Richest Man In Babylon
Fellow Filipino and admin
sent me a book that I've been wanting to read for a long time already, I saw it at my dad's house, skimmed through the pages, and thought that it might be an interesting read.
I've started reading the book "The Richest Man In Babylon" after a few months in storage hoping to finish it in a few days and share what I've learned in a post.
To finish, my freewriting experiment did not go as planned, maybe because of the nature of freewriting, "to not worry about anything and just let the subconscious do its thing". It felt strange at first but eventually made me relaxed enough to compose my thoughts and churn out a decent post out of it.
Anyways, I hope you get a kick out of reading this - hopefully! So, that's it for now. I will try to do more of these random creative process ways to improve myself. In the meantime, I would like to wish all of you a wonderful day. Stay safe and keep healthy everyone!
Mabuhay!
