Sir Albert Einstein gave many remarkable formula in his lifetime but among them E=mc2 is one of the greatest in the history of modern science.And I think it is the most populer theory among the general Public.Before getting into the equation we first discuss about some fundamental facts about Physics.
What Is Physics??
The fundamental of nature is that Energy travels as a wave and it show particle property as well in some time.On the other hand Matter us made up of small tiny particles which can show wave nature.At first it can be quite complicated to understand this freaking ideas.So I will make it simple.The two fundamental quantity in physics is Matter and Energy and the job of physics is to tell us how they behave and their relation in different case.

Before Einstein and the great quantum revolution in physics the behaviour of nature was use to explain in classical interpretation and there mass and Energy was taken as two separate variables.But Great sir Albert Einstein told mass and Energy are not two different entity.Mass is just a another form of energy and we can unveil Energy from a certain amount of mass.And how much energy we will get after unveiling the mass?To answer this question he gave us the formula E=mc2 that is if we could unveil the energy which is stored in a mass of m gram we will get a energy mc2 where c is the velocity of large.
Now for your kind information the velocity of light is about 3×10^8m/s so if we could transform 1 unit of mass into energy we will get a energy of 9×10^16 unit.
Some interesting facts of E=mc2
Now you must be thinking how we can transform mass into energy.Well you are converting mass into energy in every moment.
Your body is converting your meal into energy in every moment.Again when you fire up a piece of paper you are converting the mass of the paper into light and heat energy.Now the question is why we can't get that huge amount of energy by firing up a piece of paper.It us because we cannot convert all the mass into energy after fire we get back some mass in the form of ashes.If we calculate the mass of the paper before fire and ashes after fire and we will find out that some amount of mass is converted into energy which is consistent with E=mc2

Now we understand all the theoritical knowledge of E=mc2 but what are the real uses of this theory in real life.This unthinkable job was done by a Jewish lady Misa Maigner.In such a era when German university denied to admit a female graduate but by the recommendation of Max plank she got the chance and started to work with radioactive materials.And after several years and many experiments she found the division of a heavy neucleas of a radioactive molecule can give us to a huge amount of energy i.e. A radioactive material in a small container can power up a whole city for several years.The energy in this of course in accordance with E=mc2
Why it is a curse??
We could have possibly solve our Power problem and pollution using Neuclear energy.But instead of which we misuse the power of atom and theory of Einstein making Atom bomb and testing it on the innocent people in Japan.The irony of this great theory is that Einstein was alive then atomic bomb was tested in Heroshima and Nagasaki.What he made to solve our problem was used as a weapon in a war and still terrifying the mankind.
