Today we will be talking about crazy misnomers you didn’t even know were there!
If you don’t know what a misnomer is then read this:
A misnomer is something with a very wrong name, for instance:
Scientists say “killer whale” is a misnomer for what is one of the gentlest
Marine creatures known to man.
You know how everybody likes cookies and bacon?
Well here’s something for your brain!
Why do you bake cookies and cook bacon?
should it be bakies and cooken?!
Panda ‘bears’ aren’t really bears! They’re relatives of raccoons! Koalas aren’t bears either! They are marsupials!
Bald eagles aren’t bald, they simply have white feathers as adults and brown as juveniles!
Peanuts aren’t nuts! They’re beans! (Or legumes)
A firefly is not a fly! It’s a beetle!
A silkworm is not a worm! it’s a caterpillar!
A prairie dog is not a dog! it’s a a rodent!
And finally: why do you drive on a parkway; and park in a driveway?!
