GeoCam is one of the applications that can measure and determine a precise compass orientation by choosing the magnetic or geographic North.
GeoCam can also estimate and determine the distances and relative positions of points spread over an area with the use of the triangulation feature.

Taking pictures
GeoCam is primarily a tool to take pictures and save them with embedded geographical data. This data can be of two types:
On the picture itself, as an overlay of human readable values.
In the picture metadata, with the GPS coordinates and headings of the camera when the picture was taken.
These two serve different purposes. You can choose to add overlay data or not, but geocam will always add metadata to a picture if it is available (GPS fix available)
Trigger the camera
To take a picture, touch the camera icon on the top right of the main screen:
The autofocus will be triggered, then a picture will be taken. You are then brought to the review screen, which shows you the picture, and what metadata is available. Note that if you do not have an accurate GPS position, the GPS info might not be saved into the picture to avoid having incorrect data. (On the following pictures below, you will see the result after capturing and saving the file you took)
In our field sampling, we use different tools for us, researcher, to easily determine such organism we are studying with.
In addition to being a camera, GeoCam is a capable measurement tool. It can help you determine distances and heights. So we use this during our Forest Ecosystem sampling.
Here are some of the pictures: (with there altitude (height), the location (longitude and latitude forms) and its distance.

Even without any signal or Internet Connection, we may able to record the heights and the locations of the tree found on our parameters. GeoCam is indeed very useful application for biologist students especially those with major in Botany who wants to study plants and trees.
This so useful and interesting, you guys must try this cool app now!!
