Neuroscientists in the Department of Economics, at the University of Zurich conducted an experiment on the behavioural pattern of men and women, and observed that women share a sum of money more generously than men. They examined a part of the brain called striatum, that is found to be active when decisions of this kind are made.

It was found that the striatum located in the middle of the brain activates strongly in the male brain in the course of their selfish decisions.

Comparatively, the experiment also showed that the striatum activates strongly in female brain during their prosocial decisions.

However, another experiment was conducted and revealed that women behave more selfishly whenever they are administered a medication and vice versa for the men. A researcher, Alexander Soutschek, mentioned that future studies need to take into account gender differences more seriously.
