Chemical ingredient in green tea improves cognitive abilities of people with Down syndrome, writes Focus news agency, citing a statement made Tuesday by scientists and doctors.
In one year clinical trial treatment led to improved results in tests for memory and behavior reported in a study published in The Lancet Neurology.
The positive effect was maintained six months after the tests.
In brain scan shows that an ingredient called epigallocatechin gallate, has changed the way neurons connect with each other. "This is the first time the treatment has an effect on cognitive improvement of man syndrome," said one of the authors in the study.
