Have you ever hit your arm somehow and had a tingling sensation that shivers the entire arm. Well... you not alone many people through the same thing and its in most occasions referred to as the funny bone.
The so called funny bone is actually a nerve “The Ulnar Nerve” to be exact. It is a number of muscles that run in the forearm and the half the hand which is the pinkie and half the ring finger. It happens to be the largest unprotected nerve in the body which explains why it gets hit or more prone to injury.
The nerve is between the bone and skin. What I found rather ironic is that the word funny bone is actually a pun due to the upper bone being called the humerus. When you hit the funny bone in actual fact you hit the nerve against the bone.
Cubital tunnel syndrome
It is an increased pressure from connective tissue and the bone in the forearm or as we know the unlar nerve. This case is often referred to as the ulnar neuropathy. This syndrome is caused by repeatedly leaning on elbow on hard surfaces or bending the elbow for long period’s example when you stay in the same position for a long time texting.
This syndrome can result from abnormal growth of the bone in the elbow more exposure to the ulnar nerve Early symptoms are tingling in the fingers especially the ring finger and numbness, pain in the elbow. The more harsher symptoms are weakness in fingers, decrease of mobility to pinch the thumb and little finger, claw like deformity in the hand, decrease levels of hand grip and muscle wasting in the hand.
Note if you do have these symptoms consult a doctor to test.
