I sometimes have the space to do sand cone testing where I get a lot of knowledge. Especially in the sand cone testing section, but we do not just sand cone but many other tests. But here it will only sand cone only.
**TESTING OF FIELD DENSITY WITH SAND CONE
Field density testing with sand cones on the ground is performed to determine the in-place density of the soil layer or compacted pavement.
The means herein are only limited to soils containing coarse granules of not more than 5 cm. The density of the field becomes a dry weight of content unity

Equipment used in sand cone testing
- Bottle transpasan for sand with contents of approximately 4 liters.
- The sand calibration funnel with a diameter of 16.51 cm.
- Plate for sand funnel size 30,48 cm x 30,48 cm with hole diameter 16,51 cm.
- Small appliances are: Hammer, spoon, brush, chisel, and equipment to search for moisture content.
- One scales with a capacity of 10 kg accuracy to 1.0 grams.
- One scales capacity 500 grams of accuracy to 0.1 grams.

**Step by step testing sand cone
- Determine contents of the bottle Weigh the tools (bottle + funnel = gram)
- Put the tool with the bottle on the bottom,
- open the faucet and fill it with clear water until full on the faucet.
- Close the faucet and clean the excess water.
- Weigh the water filled (gram). Water weight = contents of sand bottles.
- Do it three times and take the average price of the three results. Differences in each measurement should not exceed 3 cm3.
- Determine weight of sand content
- Put the tool with the bottle on the bottom

- Fill the bottle with sand to taste
- Flatten the ground surface to be examined.
- Put the funnel plate on the flat surface
