There have been few instances where Scientists did unbelievable things, things one can only imagine, things only a god is capable of. So I listed few science experiments that were next to miracles.
1. Bringing an Extinct Animal back to the Earth.
The Pyrenean ibex, a species of wild goat, existed in mountain ranges between Spain and France. Due to excessive hunting, these species were driven to extinction. The last of its kind died a couple of decades ago and scientists were able to preserve its cell. After few years when this species was declared extinct, a group of scientist from Spain and France came together and brought back the animal from extinction. The wild goat was brought back to life with the help of cloning.
However, it lived only for 10 minutes after a surrogate mother of another closely related species, gave it birth. Scientists have named this process ** De-extinction**. This was all done in 2003 so you can imagine how naive the knowledge and tools could have been, as compared to today's.
I just hope they don't try such things with Dinasores. Jurassic Park as a sci-fi is enough.
2. Creating Organs for Humans inside Animals.
According to a recent research, worldwide approximately 3,200 people die every day due to lack of an organ donor. Scientists around the world are almost successful in developing various Human Organs inside animals and later transplanting them in Humans.
Just imagine, what if we figured out a way of developing human brains in Animals. Giving animals an IQ of human sounds cool and terrifying at the same time, right?
Just in case if you want to do more research on this, this process is known as Chimera.
3. Modifying Human Genes
Scientists have successfully modified genes of animals in the past. But recently, the HFEA of England gave Kathy Niakan, a scientist and researcher, permission to edit human embryos. The technology she is working on is called CRISPR, Clustered Regularly Interspaced Palindromic Repeats. Experiments aims at eliminating certain diseases like cancers, AIDS, etc. The genetic editing can be passed out to further generations. Research can potentially go wrong and the mistakes could be passed over to further generations.
4. Developing an Alien Organism
Life on Earth comes in various forms and shapes. Surprisingly, all of it is encoded by just 2 pairs of DNA bases (C-G and A-T). But recently, scientists have created an organism that has our 2 DNA base plus an entirely new DNA base of 3rd type, which is artificial. It has the DNA structure which is different from everything on earth. So basically we can say that Humans have given birth to an alien creature.
They stated that its the 'First human-made Alien Creature'. FIRST? Whats next then?
5. Creating Artificial Life
After 15 years of hard work, a multimillionaire scientist Dr. Craig Venter created first artificial life. In the process, Ventew and his team altered the genetic code of the world's smallest bacteria (Mycoplasma Genitalium) and uploaded it on the computer. Then they artificially reproduced the DNA and added their watermark. Later they removed the original DNA and replaced it with the artificial code. The synthetic cell was replicating which is the fundamental definition of life in the world of science.
