The gloves used by astronauts are very heavy, bulky and when pressurized they squeeze the fingers so hard that they end up cutting off their blood circulation and directly affecting the nails, at the same time that a powerful pressure presses the tip of each of the fingers. Usually the hands of the astronauts end up full of chafing, blisters and the progressive fall of the nails.
Because of the discomfort and pain caused by the falling of the nails, some astronauts have managed to remove their nails surgically before starting their journey into space, this in order to avoid injuries and possible infections in the fingers.
