This question may have popped up in the hearts of many: “Are there advanced civilizations that are many light years ahead of us?”
Let’s start like this. This earth has only been in existence for about 4.6billion years, but our galaxy (the Milky Way) is over 10billion years old. So how do we think there are no civilizations out there that are way older than ours?
Considering the advancement that has happened in our planet in these years of existence, how much more will the advancements of a far older ET planet be? It is no doubt that the sun is being orbited by planets and nano-planets, some of which are way older than the earth. At least, scientists have been able to catalogue many of them.
A recently discovered nano-planet, according to scientist, is earthlike. And scientists believe that this planet houses advanced alien tech. And they have mechanisms that make them eavesdrop on our electromagnetic communication (according to Prof. Geoffry Marcy; Astronomer).
This could sound fictional. But this inspiration was drawn from the latest discovery made about how many potential “Earths” could exist in reality. Before now, we don’t really know much about other planets apart from the ones in our solar system. But that has really changed. The galaxy we dwell in; with over 200billion stars is filled with many earth-sized planets which have been proven to be habitable, and could have the potentials of springing out primitive lives.
So, looking out for the possibility of ET may not be weird after all. Scientists have been positioning the radio telescope in the skies for years in search for ETs. But it seems it wasn’t much of a success, until a better new tech emerged. This tech involves laser beams. This consists of a solo frequency of light. These laser communications are used to replace the radio telescope, and have been proven to be effective in the search for ETs.
It is believed that these advanced Ets will be communicating with their kinds, and the only way to eavesdrop into their communication is through the use of laser communication. The very superior feature about laser is; they can be tremendously high frequency; blue light, ultraviolent light. So you can send a very high bandwidth of data (over 1,000,000,000,000bits/second). Now that is amazingly huge.
But the question is;
With all these laser communications, optical telescope, radio wave telescope, infrared telescope, has scientists been able to pinpoint an advanced ET colony?
Well, this question is a really dicey one. What if they don’t want us to locate them? What if they have a tech to shield them from us? But I won’t have you ignorant of this fact:
With the numbers of galaxies we have and the billions of planets, it will be rather myopic to think that only the earth has life.
That being said; if we think that we’re all alone in this vast space, then it will really make us feel lonely.
If there are ETs and they’re planning to contact us, I just hope they’ll come in peace (that’s if they’ve not already contacted us, and the information is being shielded from us).
