Welcome to Microscopic Midweek!
Today we went out foraging for some creatures to take a closer look at! We found some hungry ants (with the help of a little peanut butter frosting), a very grumpy little moth, some sort of chrysalis, and very lush moss to get up close and personal with!
Are you ready?!
Shrink Ray activated!
Thick moss that had been growing in the gutters!
Here it is creeping up the steel cage that goes into the drain spout!
It's so green and tiny!
Perfectly formed little succulents.
The browning portions at the bottom of the moss.
The strange neural networking looking bit here kind of weirds us out. What about you?
Some sort of chrysallis(?)!
This very intriguing piece of nature was almost overlooked completely while we were chasing a moth. It looked like a stick stuck to a screen at first glance. Then when we tried to figure out what it was, a closer inspection proved to be incredible!
The amber coloring and ridges on this part were absolutely fascinating. We apologize in advance, but we took many pictures of that part!
Perhaps a part of left over molting?
If anyone has any idea what this is, as we are just guessing, please feel free to enlighten us in the comments! We would love to know for sure!
Grumpy moth!
This little guy was the size of a pinkie nail! But his attitude was huge!
"What're you lookin' at?"
We tried to get a better look at his very twitchy antenna. Sadly, this was as clear as we could get!
And once more with a little light! By the way, he loved the light so much that he actually flew INTO the microscope and there were some very tense moments attempting to remove him. He came out unscathed, though.
And in closing, a video of ants nomming up some delicious sugar!
You may want to open the Dtube link above in another tab since it will take you away from the post!
After dropping some crumbs we didn't have to wait long for some company! As you can tell, they were glad to join us for lunch!
Thanks for joining us for another edition of Microscopic madness!
And until next time..
Keep it tiny!
We hope you like what we brought to the Blockchain today! Please leave your comments and feedback in the comments, we love to hear it!
