It's 2:15 AM, my body screams "Dude, I need some sleep!" but I ignore it. I keep on watching the Galaxy Quest because it's FUN and I have to finish it. What an addict. Wait a minute...
Is it really worth watching that AWESOME movie or a TV show or doing anything else you like or don't, LATE AT NIGHT? Let's find out (* grabs popcorn bag but finds none left *).
The Circadian Rhythm
It all starts with a term known as the Circadian Rhythm or Cerca Diem (in Latin) meaning "approximately a day" (thanks to SciShow). Day and night summed are equal to 1 daily cycle and your body is actually SYNCED biologically with those daily cycles.
Just like your body gets synced with your boyfriend's/girlfriend's if you know what I mean.
Moving on, because of daily cycles, your body knows EXACTLY when it should rest and you get that signal by wanting to SLEEEEEP. Hello... You still here?
Circadian Rhythms also affects your eating and mating processes. The main regulator of rhythms is found in the hypothalamus (inside your head) called as Suprachiasmatic Nucleus (SCN) which connects directly your nervous system to the endocrine systems.
Sleeping Hours
Scientists have discovered that it is mostly BENEFICIAL to consider sleeping between 2:00 to 4:00 AM (deepest sleep) and taking a nap from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. Skipping those hours may lead to health issues like
- Diabetes
- Obesity
- Depression
- Dementia
When do you usually go to sleep?
More coming up SOON! #ThankYou
