Hey Everyone!!!
Can anyone guess what this majestic structure might be? Majestic at least for them!!
Well Well.. Let me introduce everyone here to a tiny creature which is barely the size of the moon of our fingernail, TERMITE.
And this particular structure in the picture above is where they live that is termite nest.
This picture was clicked on a college science tour in a Wetland and Conservation area, Nepal.
Briefly summoning Termites,
- Kingdom: Animalia
- Phylum: Arthropoda
- Class: Insecta
- Order: Blattodea
- Infraorder: Isoptera
They might be a bothering tiny creatures for many house owners but these insects are considered to be excellent environmental conservationists. They are detritivores and feeds on dead plants, rotten wood and fallen logs.
Some fascinating facts on termites-
- The worker and soldier termite are blind.
- The total weight of all the termites is more than the weight of humans in the world.
- A termite queen can lay upto 30000 eggs a day.
- Termite colonies can eat nonstop for 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
