A few of these can be found resting on the plants on my balcony. They're quite docile. I can't actually find the species in any database, but it looks kind of like a hybrid moth with those big, furry antennae. If you take a closer look, you'll see that each wing has 3 transparent spots. Science has only recently discovered that these spots aren't as empty as they first seem.
A scientist typically looks at insects with a bright light and a white backdrop, but once you put a black backdrop behind them, a whole new world of insect is unleashed. Here's an example:
So one can only imagine what this beautiful mystery bug looks like to the insect world!
