Today the BBC revealed the 13th Doctor in it's long running Sci-Fi series and it's not such a big surprise we found out the Doctor is going to be a woman. Jodie Whittaker will replace Peter Capaldi in the Christmas special to take charge of the T.A.R.D.I.S and the adventures in time and space.

There have been growing calls for a female Doctor and the role of Missy played by Michelle Gomez as the female incarnation of the Master showed that a change of sex for a Time Lord could not only work but was a massive success as Gomez brought new life and an amazing character to life. Without doubt Missy is one of the best characters over the history of the show and the way her character bounced off Capaldi's Doctor made the best Doctor - Master team ups to date.
With a new show runner taking over the show and now it's first ever female Doctor the show is in for major changes and much will depend on hitting the ground running with some great stories and writers when the next season returns. I'm sure there will be many people upset by this casting of the Broadchurch star as the Doctor but I'm excited to see where they go with the story and waiting to see how it pans out before I decide if it's a god call.
