Today, during the closing ceremonies of the Olamot con, an announcement I have been waiting a long time for has finally been made public, and I can release one secret: This year's guest of honor for ICon, the largest and oldest Israeli science fiction convention, will be Ann Leckie. As the longtime GoH liaison and head of GoH programming for ICon, this makes me very happy.
Not only is Leckie a wonderful author, one who's every book has been a Hugo finalist, who has won the Hugo, the Nebula, the Locus, the BSFA, and the Clarke awards, she's also a most excellent human. And her work is going to serve as the launching pad for some terrific discussions.
Leckie's latest novel, Hugo finalist Provenance, was on my list of favorite 2017 novels and on my Hugo ballot.
Her work has included brilliant examinations of topics ranging from AI go Gender, and I can't wait to talk to her about that onstage at ICon.
