Reflection:
This quote covers it all. We all (well most of us) try hard to be a good parent. To guide. To teach. To love. When you have more than one child you discover how different your love is for both children. You love them equally (well usually), but you love them differently. Each one is unique in their own way and you love them for who they are, what they accomplish and who they become as they grow older. How do you know you've done well...look at their actions. Is their word impeccable? Are they trustworthy? How do they treat strangers in need?
I chose this one today, because every now and they any good parent questions whether they have done a good job. Today is my youngest child's 25th birthday. He may not be where he wants to be in life yet and that's ok. His character though speaks volumes. My favorite story I like to tell, is from about 5 yrs ago or so. He saw a really overweight guy out jogging in 90 degree weather. He figured that enough people had poked fun of him, he decided to pull over offer him some water(since he didn't have any) and tell him what a wonderful job he's doing and to keep it up. That right there is how you know you have done a good job. I constantly get messages from my friends he runs into that he has helped them with their groceries or whatever they were doing at the time. It's very surreal. It's something you hope will happen and when it does, the amount of respect and love is undescribable. So Happy Birthday to my baby boy.
