While I was teasing this in a snap earlier, it's not something I wanna focus on yet, which is okay as it'd be better once users have some more scrobbles behind them anyway. Currently no one has hit 1,000 yet to even play "Total Scrobble Recall" :D
While this is going to be a big and important feature, it's a bit too soon!
So taking a break from unity (although doing some work there at the same time as this), I decided to focus on the Movies and TV section of the website. I decided to create a new community for this and will be checking if some curators are interested in keeping an eye on it in the future. Basically, we implemented long-form reviews for movies!
How it works
When a user goes to log a movie watched in scrobble.life/movies, they select the correct movie from search, it'll now display this:
You rate the movie
You leave it a comment if you want (comment can leave a snap if you check "also post as snap"
Or you can check "Write a longer review" now which is new, then the "log it" button becomes "Continue to review" instead which takes you to our simple editor:
Note that all reviews are posted into the Scrobble.life community.
You write a title of your choosing (doesn't have to be the movie/tv show name) and fill out the body which offers image upload and the general markdown options along with spoiler. Now there's also the Decentmemes.com widget added if you really wanna get creative! (Beneficiaries apply)
Then you can select beneficiary and payout options as usual as well:
Another cool thing you can do is paste previous reviews you've written when you go to log a movie/tv show! Instead of clicking "Write a longer review", you simply click "link existing" option next to it. When you do that it opens up a link-drop box, and when you link from peakd/ecency/hive.blog, it will automatically check the date you posted it on to update the date you watched it above so you don't need to manually set it.
The sections of movies are now updated with long-form reviews as well as short takes being visible under the trailer of a certain movie/tv show, this is what it looks like when I've logged the movie with an old review for instance:
Still some fine-tuning left, like not showing a review is 1869 days old but something more human readable and telling claude that just cause it got x amount of hbd then doesn't mean it converts in today's hive prices into hp. :D
But you get the gist.
A big update so let me know if you find any flaws/errors somewhere, I'm sure there's some I may have missed.
I'm excited however to start logging older movies I may have written reviews about now and activating the /movies and /tv section a bit more since most of the focus has been on /music and the scrobbler extension (which is still awaiting google web store review but is available on mozilla).
Some more notes copied over from Claude summary:
Auto-prefix [Movie] / [TV] on the on-chain title for PeakD/Ecency readers; stripped on scrobble.life since you're already in the movie context
New Reviews + Quick takes 70/30 split column
Reviews are collapsed by default (title · rating ·
· time · live HP payout) — click to expand the full body inline
Upvote button + 0-100% weight slider + Reply composer on every review — same UX as the /music discussion section
Live HP rewards chip (amber = in voting window, emerald = paid out)
Sort tabs: Newest / Top Payout / Top Rating
Anyway, that's pretty much it, give it a try!
PS. logging movies doesn't require the extension, just a hive keychain login using your posting key.
