I took a selfie back in the summer when I was in Okinawa Japan for diving. I have had the pleasure of diving in several countries; Japan, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and Canada. I am a tropical water diver (Canada was a shallow river dive), and think that Okinawa is an overlooked dive spot. While its costly to dive, at about 8-10,000 yen (50-80 USD) per dive with rental gear, once you get with a good dive shop, they will take care of you. Also, I highly recommend the Kerama Islands as a dive spot. It is a 1 hour boat ride from Naha, but once you're there, you'll see why people make the trip. The water clarity is amazing, with minimal 25 meter water viability on a good-weather day. I took my newly-certified daughter diving there for her first fun dives. Within 10 minutes of her first fun dive, we had a sea turtle come into our dive group and was within 1 meter of me! What an exciting way to start my daughter's diving experience! If you want to know some of the best dive shops in Okinawa, just message me. I have been with 3 shops and can highly recommend 2 of them.
