Hello, this is borg 123. This week, I learned Cortège by Louis Vierne. This piece was quite challenging both technically and aurally. Copious amounts of dissonance yet bravely and convincingly put together to flare the piece up with intense character. I was also intrigued by the title, what does Cortège actually mean? Turns out it describes a solemn funeral procession. But why is the tempo allegro maestoso? This was so interesting since the mission here was to portray both the slow and serious maestoso part as well as the jumpy, seemingly out of place for a procession, allegro part. Overall, it was a riveting experience and I'm looking forward to learn all of the 24 Pièces en style Libre. Hope you enjoy the performance!
