Our Vilnius University Unda Maris organ studio had a concert today at St Joseph parish. On the program works of Bach, Ciurlionis, Petzold, Krebs, Lemmens, Zimmer and improvisations. Thanks to my friend for allowing us to use his elegant little instrument.
Some of the participants were our fellow Steemians, such as and
.
Everybody did a great job either in avoiding mistakes or recovering from mistakes during the performance. It wasn't easy to get accustomed to a new instrument after only a few rehearsals.
People who stayed focused usually did the best. People who got distracted by the new situation, started making mistakes. But no one really stopped the flow of music which I think is an achievement.
I thought it was a nice idea for them to get experience on this organ and it would be thrilling to play with them in some other churches as well. In Vilnius and not only there.
Keep in mind that their professions are not music ralated at all. They are medics, linquists, biochemics, geographs, mathematicians etc.
Next season we will start our practices in September and they all have some idea what they would like to learn next.
I encouraged all of them to practice some Bach chorale preludes and to participate in our Secrets of Organ Playing Contest on Steem.
