Positive Emotions are the strongest emotions. They are those emotions you feel more than others in a given situation. If you want to build up a positive outlook, you need to be able to identify and put a value on the positive emotions in the situation you are facing. For example, in dealing with a job interview, if you do not know what you should be feeling, it is easy to say, 'I don't know, I don't know.' However, being able do to a simple exercise on finding out what feelings you have when talking to potential employers can help you to put the right value into your feeling.
In this way, when you find out which positive feelings are strongest, the most valuable for the job search, use the skills you learned to help build your confidence and to do a better job at identifying the feelings that are really important to you.
The Positive Psychology approach to psychology is based on three main areas: self-determination, optimism, and emotions, where the first two are closely related and the third is the one that is most important for you to focus on. If you are not used to working with feelings, it might be difficult to see why these are the key areas to work with, but as the authors of this book have said, "The more you can Nebula, 'em, love, you, go for it."
The Science of Self-Confidence:
Confident people have more confidence. You may think it's simple to measure confidence, or you may even think that it is simple. But it isn't. This chapter provides a solid basis for building confidence in your life and in the work you do. It also provides an opportunity for readers to practice the self confidence techniques we've talked about so that they can gain confidence from the inside out. As always, we are talking about a process, not a cure .Your confidence needs to build over time, like a tree growing in its own soil. So please keep on working.
There are many ways to create more self confident people, so you're not alone. In this chapter, I'll talk about four exercises to increase your self sense of confidence—the exercise you used last time to improve your job hunt confidence; the exercise to make you more confident about your abilities; and finally, to boost your positive self esteem. We'll also talk through the positive psychology methods of positive emotions and optimism. You'll feel better and feel more positive as you learn more about the different ways you approach your career. And as we discussed earlier, what you feel now is a part of the process. Your positive behaviors, thoughts, feelings, behaviors and attitudes are a way to get the best of what's good in you, helping you succeed and maintain your sense that you can do it. This is how you grow your true self. So to grow, you must feel.
