Dear needlework friends!
I apologise for not being more active on the #wip challenge like I hoped to be! No matter how I try, it must be accepted that I live an organic and free life, and this means it is near impossible to impose deadlines.... My house adjustments (for selling), gardens and cats took priority this week.
But now, I'm delving into high-priority sewing work to get this outfit together for a wedding on Saturday - in 5 days... I have to transform a top, and make some old cutt-off leggings into an elegant underwear, which'll be visible under the beautiful transparent skirt.
I bought both main garments at the 50c stall, where almost all my clothes come from... Occasionally, I love to buy something that I usually wouldn't wear, to not get too rigid mentally about what I like!
This white top is a good example of that, BUT then I saw that it wouldn't sit well with the peplum covering the nice skirt waistband detail. The whole outfit will sit best if I cut off the peplum.
However, this will mean replacing the back zip! Not too hard with this material and style - and I have a zip from my collection ready - an invisible zip, no less! It is a weeee bit too long, but that doesn't matter, as I know how to move the end of a zip to adjust its length π
This is the waistband of the skirt, which I posted a few weeks ago about changing: the de-peplummed top will sit either behind the waistband, or I'll finish the bottom of the top with some nice edging - maybe just a strip of the peplum to add as edging.
And these are the old legging cutt-offs: I haven't found the right leg-bottom edging for them yet, but if I can't get the perfect material, I'll pop to the haberdashery to get some elastic lace or suchlike.
I'm quite excited about this outfit, as this will be a big, relatively formal Italian wedding in a church and followed after by a large all-day feast (!!!) - it will be fabulous clothes-watching and people-watching!
Looking forward to sharing a photo here of my completed outfit, hopefully making me look more-than-acceptable to the critical Italian eyes that'll be judging me! βΊοΈππΎπ₯
Blessings on your Sunday, dear friends!
