Let's see. Where did I leave off? Oh yeah, driving across that tall bridge and crashing for the night in Tennessee.
Day 5
In the morning we jumped in our Rental Chariot and headed North. We drove through Memphis, Jackson and Nashville before getting on I-65 to Kentucky. Of course that part of the trip we must have stopped at every gas station and roadside attraction we could find but I can't find a single picture. Odd.
Once in Kentucky we passed through Bowling Green and up to Cave City. This is home to the World Famous Mammoth caves!
But we didn't get to stop at them because pets aren't allowed. I was there once when I was 3yrs old but don't remember it. All over the area is other caves but we didn't stop at them either. We did stop at one place at the same exit...
Dinosaur World!
We didn't stay long but it was a really cool spot we will be visiting again.
Kentucky Bourbon Trail
Next we headed further North and ran across the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Now we are talking!
You can take tours at some of the best in the business including Four Roses, Makers Mark, Bulleit, Woodford Reserve and many many more. We only stopped at 2 of the smaller ones. The first was Neeley Family Distillery and the next was Boone County. Got some goodies at both of them. Here are some of the original stills they used back in the day.
And here are some of the products we grabbed.
Day 6
We scored a hotel in this area and got some rest after another long day. In the morning we hit the road and headed up through Ohio.
At this point of the trip we were ready to be home. I think we might have stopped a few times in Ohio but nothing worth talking about.
Like everyone around here says. "The only good thing to come out of Ohio is I-75" LOL
I hope you enjoyed my roadtrip. We are getting some ideas for our next trip that we'll be taking hopefully in February. Still not sure if we are doing the East Coast or heading back down to mine more crystals. Only time will tell.
Thanks for stopping by!
