My entry for
#shadowphoto contest by ~ round 86 hosted by
I found this Cicada a few weeks back when I was at the lake. It was dead. I picked it and brought it home. I know that sounds like a strange thing to do but I did. I've been keeping it in a small glass jar.
Yesterday I took it out of the jar and placed it on my porch floor where the sun was shining and took a shadow photo.
The above picture I took at the lake. The cicada was on the ground at the base of Hemlock tree. I picked it up and put it a piece of birch bark and took it home that way.
I'm not sure why the cicada was dead. I was pleased to have found it because I rarely ever see them. I only hear the high pitch sounds they make on very warm and hot summer days.
The cicada is my area are the Robinson's Annual. I don't have the species that come out in hugh swarms every few years .
