I'll go ahead and be honest when I say that I am not even 100% sure that this facility even is (or was) a cremation site. I have been to multiple Thai funerals and they have been modernized and include very high temperature cremation facilities. But we have to imagine that things were not always that way and perhaps that is what this was. It was in a state of disrepair and there was garbage all over the place, so I presume it is no longer used. Doesn't mean it cant be ominous.
This is another one of those things that I was just riding along in some random direction on my bicycle and noticed it in the distance. I was a little apprehensive to approach it because I don't want to accidentally do something spiritually insensitive. No one was around and all i did was take a few pics so i am sure it is fine.
you can see that the roof is black from years of soot and it is broken in many places. The area around it was covered in beer bottles and what not, so perhaps it is now just a place where teenagers hang out. I have no idea.
Like I have mentioned many times in the past, for someone that has been in a Buddhist country for over a decade I know shockingly little about the religion, so I am not even sure that this building actually is what I said it is. However, the size of the "burning pit" is kind of hard to deny.
Anyway, I thought it was creepy as can be and was glad I stumbled upon it.
