Steem Is A Currency
For a long time now I have debated the usefulness of Steem in the real world. It's a currency, but only between those that know of it and use it. I cannot pay my rent or use it or to put food on my plate like I can with FIAT because it's not yet widely accepted yet. When I work, I get paid in FIAT and it's easy to tax.
The Australian Tax Office has determined crypto income to be taxable income, BTW, so it's only really a matter of time before there is wider acceptance of crypto in general and Steem. It's going to be a rather messy future, maybe?
Now, there are some places, like airports and some coffee shops, that are starting to accept Bitcoin. It's still early days.
However, that was before the creation of...
Shopsteem is a website that has a relatively small range of products available that accepts, Steem, SBD and Bitcoin Lightning as forms of payment. There are about 7 pages worth of products available, which encompass everything from kitchen appliances, scented candles, shower curtains, skincare, to PS4 / Xbox One games and other related computer gear.
I've got my eye on some of the Apple products and a gaming mouse.

I am still discovering new items available and there will be something for everyone.
You can see what's available for yourself here.
While the range is small, the stuff is pretty cool and their stock is only going to grow over time.
Now I just need** Steem to go moon** so I can go on a massive spending spree. A "Steemspree", perhaps?
(It you hear or see people using this term, you heard it here first!)
So, as you are generating steem maybe think twice about leaving some liquid rather than powering it all up, so you can do save yourself a bit of time and effort when it comes to shopping for Christmas, birthdays or just something for that certain special someone in your life.
This certainly gets the 'Shaidon thumb up seal of approval''.
