I couldn't sleep that night because the wind was blowing hard outside. Moreover, my house which is close to a pine forest, makes it even more difficult for me to enter my dream world. Every time I tried to close my eyes I always heard a whisper calling my name.
Finally, after being awake for a while I was able to sleep soundly because the strong wind had stopped blowing. While sleeping I dreamed that I met a child my age, when I found him crying. Without thinking anymore I approached him. How surprised I was. When he turned his head, it turned out that he was a child of Dutch descent, "Why are you crying?" I asked the 12-year-old boy.
"I'm lonely, I have no friends," he replied.
Hearing that answer suddenly I felt sorry for him. Therefore, I asked him if he wanted to be my friend. He nodded in agreement. However, when I asked him his name he just smiled. I was confused about why he was like that. Then when I was about to ask him where he lived, he simply replied, "Come to the pine forest if you want to see me." After that, I suddenly woke up from my sleep.
That morning without thinking anymore I ran to the pine forest which is not far from my house to meet him. Actually, I was a little surprised why he asked me to meet him at that place. When I got there I couldn't find anyone. There are only pine trees surrounding me.
Not long after, a small child suddenly came from behind a pine tree. When I looked closely at him it turned out that he was the little boy I met in my dream that night. He waved his hand at me while calling my name, "Linga ... Lingga." I was shocked because I had not told him my name at all. Then I walked over to him. Then we took a walk through the pine forest. I was flabbergasted when I saw how beautiful the scenery there was.
Don't feel like the time is getting late. I also said goodbye to him to go home, he just nodded and said, "Tomorrow come here again!".
"Okay!" I answered.
The following days we always played together until finally, my brother asked me, "Recently you often go out of the house, where did you go?"
I just replied that I only played with my friends in the pine forest. Hearing this my brother then scolded me, “What? Pine forests? Why are you playing there? It's dangerous there. What if you get lost or meet a wild animal! ”.
I also explained that there was a little boy who needed a friend, so I accompanied him so he wouldn't be lonely. Hearing this, my sister understood a little about what I was doing, then she asked what the child's name was. Hearing that question I can only be silent because I have never been told the name of my friend.
Knowing this, my brother then invited me to go to the forest again to meet my friend. It turned out that my friend was waiting at the place where we usually met. When I saw him, my brother suddenly shed tears while flabbergasted. Then he pulled me and invited me to go home.
When I got home my brother explained what had happened. He told me that the little boy was also his childhood friend. He appeared for the first time in his dream just like I did. However, he had never played with him since high school because of the busyness of school. I was just surprised and afraid to hear the story from my brother. In my little heart asked, "Who is he? What is he up to? "
Then my sister and I went to meet our grandfather. We also told what we were going through. After hearing our story, Grandpa then gave us suggestions. He told us to find out what the boy's name was, then called his name when we met him, our grandfather told us to do that so he could leave in peace. He told us that the child was a lonely spirit who had forgotten his name so that he could not leave the pine forest.
We also looked for his name in various places until finally when we looked for him in the village library, we found a book with family photos in it. In the photo, there is a small child who looks very much like our friend. When we looked at the back of the photo we finally got the name of the boy. Without thinking we then went to the pine forest to meet him.
When he got there as usual he waved his hand and said, "Oeeyyy, Lingga! Rangga! Let's play!"
"Thank you! Thank you for the invitation, we are very happy to be playing with you, Edward! " My brother and I shouted.
After we mentioned his name, Edward's presence before us faded away. Before he completely disappeared from our sight, we ran over to him and gave him a hug. At that time we saw him crying. Then Edward said, “Thank you! I am very happy to have friends. I hope you will never forget me. "
Hearing this my brother and I cried. Until finally Edward's presence completely disappeared from before us.
In the following days, my sister often took me to go to the pine forest to remember Edward, our childhood friend who was very dear to us.
