Introduction to Japp Ji Sahib
Japp (Sikhs call this sacred composition as Japp Ji Sahib to show their respect) is the very first sacred composition following the Mool Mantra in Sikh Holy Book.
Japp means to recite or chant or stay focus on. Complied by the Founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak, Japp instruct to recite on ੴ (Ekk-Oung-Kaar).
Guru Nanak composed the Mool Mantra, staring with ੴ (Ekk-Oung-Kaar) and then followed by the attributes ੴ.
Then question arose how can one know more about ੴ? ( Please note Knowing by personal experience and not by gaining bookish knowledge or listening from others). If this is possible then how?
Then Guru Nanak answers "JAPP" meaning Recite (or focus on "1" as a priority in your life). Japna (reciting) starts with the mouth (tongue) then becomes part of our memory and a stage comes when it is done without any effort same way as our breathing is done automatically.
In coming days I will explain "JAPP Ji Sahib" on this blog including the introductory Salok (Verse), 38 Paurees (Hymns) one by one and then the final closing salok (verse).
