Celebrate 200 years of the current Sovereign
A coin Unrivaled in quality, exactness and outline
In 1817, The Sovereign was renewed as the exemplification of the Gold Standard. It has remained a steady through two centuries of monetary and social change, still pertinent as an all around exchanged bullion coin and looked for after as a memorial coin.
This uncommon discharge comes back to Benedetto Pistrucci's unique "fastener" showstopper, struck interestingly since 1820. The natural St George and the mythical beast configuration is encompassed by the full Old French engraving and tie outskirt initially struck on the Sovereigns of 1817. For this 2017 release of the 22 carat gold Proof coin, the date shows up on the front-side interestingly since 1887.
