“Give Commander Errisl th’ order tae fire cannons one an' two! Tells her tae snuff-oot ‘att fire!”
“Aye Sairrr!”
Not more than fifteen seconds after Lupega yelled the order down to the upper gun deck and all fire and hell belched out of the two forward deck guns!

[On the Silverton…]
Both sixteen pounders ignited at nearly the same time and the ship heaved slightly to the starboard side as fire and black smoke belched outward towards the eastern bank of the river Niagara!
Less than a second later, the Seneca war fire exploded in a cloud of smoke, burning cinders and tree shards, blinding some of the warriors nearby and wounding many others!
Panic broke out in the Seneca village! A hundred or more warriors, shocked and dismayed, moved back from the river bank in sheer terror! Many of the group dropped their bows and ran! Though they were somewhat familiar with muskets and what danger they held, the roar and the impact of the cannon fire was altogether new to them. Their organized defense lines scattered and mayhem took hold of the warriors!
Some of the warriors closest to the fire pit were blinded by the explosion and crawled about on all fours, some seeking relief in the cool waters of the river bank, while still others wounded by tree shards lay bleeding and unable to stand!
All this the Captain observed from the bridge with little or now expression- yet inside, he felt a pang of sorrow for the ignorance of the Indians and their total lack of understanding of the weaponry of modern warfare...
“We knew the Seneca wouldn't stand idly by in the face of these events, so we'll have to be on our guard!” Warrant Officer Lupega could be heard yelling down to someone on the galley stairs, whilst down below the voice of Commander Kerrislravenhill gave warning…
“Let just hope the Seneca do not bring in their allies like the tribes of the Iroquois confederacy and the Mohawk! That will be too much to handle. Best to have an exit plan if they show up in force!”
“Och Aye Sairrr!” Lupega replied, then turning towards the Captain on the bridge, “Do we fire again Sairrr?!”
The Captain stood stolid watching the chaos unfold on the east bank before answering, “Nae…stain doon!”
Next to him Commander Galligan stood at the portside rail and watched as the Seneca attack force melted away to the far reaches of the village. It was then that he saw him…
“Keptin…Chief Minetoh!” He said as he pointed to the southeastern bank of the river.
The Captain stretched out his longscope and observed the leader of the great tribe...
The Chief was walking slowly out into the open, near the place where the war fire once was, glancing this way and that at the dozen or so wounded lying on the ground and then stopped. He directed his gaze directly toward the ship and raising both arms high above his head…
”Betchwak!” [Translated- “Enough!”]
