⛵ ⛵ ⛵ ⛵...(Tour of "High Island")...Continued...
[Last time...]
The impact of the ball sent the warrior catapulting out of the canoe and splashing into the cold waters of the great lake!
“Puttin' someone's heed under water at gunpoint is nae baptism!” Ironshield said in a saddened tone.
“ 'Att is a truth Sairrr…” Bleujay answered softly as she watched the war canoes scatter and head back north. (See: @joshuaslane/silver-adventures-captain-joshua-slane-07jl24-whoop-whoop-hiya-kiki )

[On the sloop…half mile north of the Silverton…]
Commander Galligan held a steady tiller as the small sailboat cut fresh water towards the south. With the threat of the Ojibwe tribe now behind them, the crew could breath easier and a rising cheer grew in their hearts as the sails of the Silverton drew closer.
The chilly northern breeze brought color back to Commander Kerrislravenhill’s face as she suddenly thought of home…
“Climate barely guid enaw tae graw mah cherry tomatoes…” She said absently as she retied the sail running line.
“Haha! Well, Ontario is the Ojibwe hunting grounds! They’re not much for farming I don’t think!” Galligan said with a grin.
The thought brought his own mind back to home and the wife he left behind. Elspeth…what was he going to do about her? Each year that he was at sea the marriage deteriorated. A dash of cold spray off the starboard side jogged his mind back to the present.
[On the Silverton…main deck, starboard rail…]
Able Seamen Silversaver888, Tbnfl4sun and Seaman Joshman and Belemo stood at the rail and gathered heavy running line in loops about the deck. In the distance, the small sail of the ship’s sloop looked like a struggling, wayward bird that couldn’t quite take flight…
“I am ready and waiting... and waiting!” Silversaver888 said as she tossed her hair out of her eyes and watched the small craft.
“Aye, and me too!” Tbnfl4sun replied as he steadied himself on the oak rail.
Just then, Able Seaman Punkysdad and Seaman Coinjoe jogged over…
“Popcorn anyone?” Punkysdad joked as he stood at the pile of rope.
“I wish!” Silversaver888 replied with a laugh, “How about tonight at tatties and neebs?”
“Glad to be of service to Scotland!”
As they all laughed at the jest the captain’s voice boomed at the forward bridge rail,
“ Ready yoorselves fur th' fur th' pick-up men! Git those sailors oot o’ th' sloop an' don’t bortha tae bring th' boat up noo! We’ll trail 'er alang behind us until we’re oot o’ range o’ th' fort!”
“Aye Sairrr!” “Aye!” “Aye, aye Sairrr!”
Up on the bridge, Warrant Officer Trumpman held a steady course north as his ambitious mind rambled about…
“Geez wen promotion!” He mumbled to himself as thought of the long months of hard work he had spent on this toor.
“Wussatt Mate?” The captain said, turning to face him.
“Och, naethin' Keptin Sairrr! Jist thinkin' ootlood!”
“Weel come next week ye may hav mair tae think aboot officer.” The captain said with a wink, “Yoo’ve dain a guid job oan this toor an' Ahh ken th' Commanders see’s it tay.”
As Trumpman puzzled over the remark the captain left the bridge and headed for the starboard rail…
”Ready those tether lines men! Fling them straight an' fling them weel oan mah commain!”
In the distance, the small sloop bounded quickly over the rolling waves of Great Lake Ontario. It’s precious crew huddled down closely out of the way of the cold wind spray and hope was once again flying high for the crew of the mighty Frigate Silverton.
