“Is it inhabited Sir?” His First mate asked as he held the rudder of the huge war dhow.
“No doubt it is, but not with anyone I am worried about. We have nearly eighty strong warriors on this vessel, and I intend to take what I need!” Nabil replied sternly.
Meanwhile, on the shore of Comoros, watchful eyes carefully tracked the progress of the distant war dhow…
“That's it mah kind friends, whoever ye ur! Brings her in, brings her reit intae port! Haw! Haw! Haw!"

As the man with the evil eyes watched the big war dhow approach the shore he turned and shouted out commands to his villagers…
“Git me a fockin' signal fire goin’ noo chums! Ahh’m nae gonnae lit thes one slip through mah hands!"
The thin villagers ran to and fro and quickly had a large pile of brush and dead limbs set in the clearing…
“’Att’s it! Noo git me a flame!” The big man ordered.
[On the war dhow, just west of shore…]
The first mate was the first to spot the smoke…
“Yo! Sir! Look to the cove, a signal of smoke!” He called out from his foothold in the ratlines of the mast.
Commander Nabil slid open his scope and scanned the small entranceway to the lagoon. Several natives stood by and a large bon fire began to glisten orange-yellow in the fading light of day.
“Good! Their in a mood for trade!” Nabil said as he turned and called out his orders, “Get the sail down! Man your oars! Bring her south into that small cove and put some speed into it! I want these savages to know real power when they see it!”
“Yes Sir!”
[Meanwhile, in the cove of Moroni village…]
“Ha-ha! Swatch at heem pit oan a shaw! A fockin' Arabian war dhow tryin' tae rin loch a Scottish warship!” The big man chided to his native companion as he smiled a sly smile, “'Att’s it…brings 'er in…bring 'er reit in tae mah arms!”

Moroni Village, Comoros Island
Th' early history of Moroni isnae concrete. Th' earliest written evidence fur settlement in th' Comoros islands comes nae earlier than th' 7th century, possibly by Arab navigations an' Bantu-speakin' farmers an’ such. Ceramic finds froms th' 7th tae 10th century demonstrate 'att th' islands waur part of th' developin' Swahili civilization, but when Moroni itself was first settled isnae knoon.
By th' middle of th' second millennium, however, Moroni was clearly a weel established toon, engaged in trade throoghoot th' Indian Brine, an' th' Badjanani mosque, built in 1427, is a testament tae th' city's wealth, contemporary wi' th' golden ages of other Swahili cities.
Together wi' neighboorin' port an' Royal Capital- Ikoni, Moroni was one of tois centers of economic an' political power of th' kingdom of Bambao. Nevertheless, it is jist one of a number of towns oan th' islain, an' it wasnae until th' Sultan of Bambao, Ali ibn Said Omar (<<Blatch!>> YerTwistin' mah tongue!), negotiated a Treaty of Protectorate (whitever 'att is...Ahh dorn't honor 'em!) wi' France 'att his toon becam th' seat of th' colonial administration an’ sae forth. (But ‘att’s a few years aff, an thaurs no bloody Franks huar noo!)
