Afternoon everyone ….
Yeah, yeah, I know I’m a little late to the show. But I’m packing a good punch to this one. Welshies challenge this week was show us something hand poured.
Well this may be difficult for some, but for me this one is a slam dunk. If I had to take a guess I’d say that most likely 30% of my stack is hand poured, and that’s not including big company hand poured stuff.
So today I am going to share several pours from “Skully”. I don’t know if he still pours or not, he was a YouTube silver pourer for years that moved over to Instagram. From what I’ve been told from Silversaver he’s been MIA on there as well. I hope that he is alright, he did have some health issues.
I have hand poured pieces from over 50 silver pouring artists. With that I would have to say without a doubt Skully, The Bear, and the Vulcans are the top three pourers I’ve ever seen work from.
I know there is a huge silver pouring community on Instagram now, but I don’t really understand the platform much and really don’t have the time to figure it out. So I’m sure there are some others out there now with awesome skills as well.
These pours are done in delft clay that is hand packed over a mold of the item to be poured. It is a tedious process and you only get one chance to pour it. So each and every piece is a unique pour.
With that being said, I’m sure most of you have seen these already. But it meets the hand poured challenge. They are hand poured pieces of Star Wars ships by Skully. They were poured in 2019 by him at my request.
Here they are:
