Iron Maiden is a British heavy metal band that has been making music since 1975. They are hugely popular and are still selling out shows.
In the 80s I was big into record collecting and had a collector friend that was a big Iron Maiden fan, so he bought all the cool Maiden picture discs and even an Eddie, shaped picture disc. I wonder is he still has them?
I'm not a big fan of their music, but I love their album artwork.
Starting in 2022 Cook Islands has been releasing a yearly Ion Maiden one dollar silver note with different album artwork on each.
The band has a mascot named Eddie. He debuted in 1980 and has been the face of the band ever since.
The first issue in 2022 feature Eddie from the 1983 album, Piece of Mind. This has always been my favorite with Eddie in a straight jacket chained to a padded cell and a hinge on his skull...nice touch!
The second issue released in 2023 is from the 2021 album, Senjutsu. Not a huge fan of this one but I see it's appeal.
The current 2024 release is from the 2015 album The Book of Souls. This was Iron Maidens first studio double album. I love the way Eddie changes each album.
