The year: 1998
I was a teenager, and I just moved from my old house to an apartment. When my family moved all changed, places we used to go, neighbors and something extremely important to me, school.
I was going to the 4th year, which is the first of the last to years of high school in Venezuela, (Junior and Senior in the US and "bachillerato" in my country).
At the beginning I felt very weird, new place, new friends, new everything but then I met an amazing guy called Edgar and he was very nice and later he would teach me about his hobby: Skateboarding.

Oh my god
I went crazy when I "discovered" skateboarding. I had a skateboard when I was a kid but it was't the same, he had something way too different and it was also incredibly fast, at first I couldn't even stand on the board, the bearings were amazingly fast.
It took some time to buy my first skateboard since my family was lower middle class and we were struggling at the time but in December my mother gave it to me as a present and the adventure started.
It skated the streets for years, had amazing adventures and lived one of the best parts of my life.

The media
There was so much going on in the skateboarding scene, we had two dedicated magazines, trasher and transworld skateboarding.
Then I discovered a show called X games and it influenced me a lot. it was the Olympics of extreme sports.
In 1999 my hero, Tony Hawk, one of the most important skateboarders in history did the impossible, a trick called "the 900".
People went crazy, when he did it and I was jumping in underwear in my room and I could truly feel him when he said " this is the best day of my life"
I leave you a special video of that day.
