Recently, I’ve emptied my moisturiser from Klairs which was helpful in the
Winter but the seasons have changed and I find it too thick for the humid weather in Hong Kong now. This brings me to my recently gifted products.
The first thing I saw were these minimalistic boxes with cute images of watermelon slices. It made me excited to see what could be inside. You could say, I ripped open the box after taking photos of them.
Just imagine my face when the simple boxes were tossed aside and these elegant and beautiful glass containers were left. Very Pink and I love it! The glass was shaped with curves as if it was jelly itself.
It’s been a month now and I can say my face has gotten better. I’d like to think it was the anti-oxidants & hyaluronic acid. Which helps fight the pollutants in the city and plump my face with hydration.
First up, Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask
COST: USD $45
SIZE: 2.7 oz/ 80mL
INGREDIENTS:
Water, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glycerin, Caulerpa Lentillifera (Seaweed) Extract, Simethicone, Citrullus Lanatus (Watermelon) Fruit, Silica, Propanediol, Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Fruit Extract, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Fruit Extract, Musa Sapientum (Banana) Fruit Extract , Paeonia Suffruticosa (Peony) Root Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Brassica Oleracea Capitata (Cabbage) Leaf Extract, Ipomoea Batatas (Sweet Potato) Root Extract, Betaine, Beta Glucan, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Xanthan Gum, Alcohol, Fragrance
Containing hyaluronic acid to make skin hydrated and amino-acid from the watermelon extract to soothe the skin, the sleeping mask also comes with AHAs that helps exfoliate dead skin, excess sebum, or dirt in your pores. It was advertised as ‘A light weight sleeping mask’ but can be used like one of those 10 minutes wash off mask. It really depends on you preference, I found it more useful as a sleeping mask. Plus this helps me save some product because I can replace it with my moisturiser at night.
If I use this the night before, I’d wake up to a smoother and softer face. Compared to my other chemical exfoliators, this was slightly high maintenance but easy to use. The smell of it was too sweet for my liking but it subsided after a while.
Saving my favourite for last, Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturiser
COST: USD $39
SIZE: 2oz/ 60mL
INGREDIENTS:
Citrullus Lanatus (Watermelon) Fruit Extract, Citrullus Lanatus (Watermelon) Fruit, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Hydrolyzed Corn Protein, Glutamic Acid (Derived from fermented grains), Glycerin, Cetearyl Olivate (Derived from Olive), Sorbitan Olivate (Derived from Olive), Sodium Hyaluronate, Cetyl Alcohol, Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba (Guar) Gum, Xantham Gum, Apricot Kernel Amino Acid, Alkanna Tinctoria Root Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Paeuonia Suffruticosa (Peony) Root Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Beta-Glucan, Jasminum Grandiflorum (Jasmine) Flower Wax, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Brassica Oleracea Capitata (Cabbage) Leaf Extract, Ipomoea Batatas (Sweet Potato) Root Extract, Fragrance
There is an obvious theme going on here with watermelons. Since their mask was so popular, they decided to make a day time moisturiser with matching ingredients. Of course, without the exfoliating effects. That’s where the moisturiser comes in! IT’s super light weight and great for the humid weather. Especially for oily skin types. Though I have slightly drier skin, I’m still sensitive to different products. This moisturiser didn’t react badly but also helped improve my skin’s health over time.
The pump bottle it comes in is easier and hygienic than that of the mask. Though, I can understand the reasons of the different containers and it’s uses, both products still won me over. If you can afford it or would like to gift yourself something useful & beautiful, I’d say go for it. Otherwise, there are many products that can do the basics and be at a affordable price.
I hope this helps you with your current or future skincare routine. I would appreciate the feedback and advice too!
