When you are thinking about THE music for flute and guitar, who is the composer of first choice? Of course this Master of Tango!
One of Ástor Piazzollas most famous compositions is his only work for flute and guitar - Histoire du Tango. Written in 1986, it tells a story of the tango to the listener.
The first movement - Bordell 1900 - tells about the original setting where tango music was performed. The provocative melodies and the mixing tempos in the solo flute passages are characteristic for this time.
The second movement - Cafe 1930 - was intended to listening only. The music became more romantic, slow and sultry.
The third movement - Nightclub 1960 - shows how tango became again a dance in the Sixties. It combines rhythmic elements with slower, more expressive sections.
The final movement - Concert - shows how tango developed into a music form that fits classical concerts.
Some excerpts of this „must“ - piece for flute and guitar are recorded by Duo Logos.
