This is my entry for the contest round 21 in the feathered friends community themed Bird with Food.
The first image is that of a mynah. This image was taken in early spring some years ago. The fruits on the wild fig (ficus benghalensis) were just becoming ripe (these are tiny fruits but birds seem to love them) and he was feasting on them.
This young adult male mynah seemed a little annoyed at my presence. Can you see the annoyance in his eyes? This is a huge tree and I was at the top of the building while trying to take this picture. In fact most of my bird pictures would be from this height. Mynahs belong to the starling family and are pretty common here. These are noisy birds and squabble a lot among themselves and with the other birds.
The second image is that of a female Asian cuckoo eating wild figs. It is hard to photograph these birds as they hide between the thick foliage of this tree at other times. Luckily as this image was also taken in early spring I could get a good shot of this bird. The branches are so close together and she is right in the middle camouflaged between them.
Here at the park the rose ringed parakeets are enjoying a feast at the table meant for them. Every morning these parakeets are fed here. However we are not allowed to cross the barrier 20 feet away so the birds can enjoy their food in peace.
This is all I could get with my phone camera as we were not allowed to carry our cameras with us. This is a new rule and it annoys me to no end.
Bird watching is my passion, but where I live currently we hardly have any trees or birds. These images were taken six years ago before I moved to my present home.
I would like like first image to be considered for the contest.
