When I found out the theme for 
Hive account@photocontests #smartphonephotography contest was fire, I was excited to say the least! Out of my thousands of fire photos this is one of my favorites. This is a burn we did in Wet Burn Canyon on the Lincoln National Forest in New Mexico. This particular log is an old cedar tree, possibly several hundred years old before it died. It has a high sap content which caused the blackness of the smoke.
