This dense collection of bicycles - shown in the photo below - is not a usual bike-crowded parking one might think. It is located in Amsterdam and falls under the jurisdiction of the municipality.
Amsterdam is full of bikes - they say that there are more bikes than residents - and to be honest, I find it possible. What comes with that is a parking issue; there are bikes everywhere and yes, there are places where someone is not allowed to park her bike and there are also signs in the streets, in front of building, entrances or fences advising not park or the municipal service will remove the bike.
Now, let's say someone does notice the sign or deliberately does not comply with the advice and her bike is removed. The question is, where does the bike go?
Well, this where the picture comes in. This is the place where all illegally parked bikes are gathered in Amsterdam, one removed from their parked spots. The good news is that the owners can reclaim their bikes - with a small fee of course.
