I have recently been staying in a remote location in the woods. I have been in between housing situations and staying at a friends house in a small town in Massachusetts. I had recently walked around after a snowstorm and took a few photos. These are all just taken on a smartphone. Yesterday the temperature around here climbed to mid 60's and even 70's in some parts of the state but continues to fluctuate. While I prefer warmer weather, there is something surreal about how fresh snow looks. I enjoyed maneuvering about through the snow, observing animal footprints and the interesting shapes that emerge as everything becomes enveloped in snow.
It is interesting as I type this a snow flurry is passing through, such dramatic changes in weather. Change is something that is continuous in life, each passing moment everything changes. We are in constant flux from moment to moment. These drastic changes in weather can enable us to see and understand these changes but on a larger scale. We experience subtle changes throughout our minds and bodies constantly throughout the day. Thoughts pass by like leaves blowing in the wind, we can reach out and grasp onto one, observe it and then let go and it becomes carried by the wind.
I was interested in how the light looks on the snow and the beautiful textures of the snow. Everything seems as though it is blending together. The snow builds up and then melts away, presence and absence occurring so rapidly and continuously, time is always moving and the patterns of our existence revolve in cycles that seem to mirror the world around us. I hope you find ways to enjoy the moments in your lives, the changes that occur throughout your day, and as everything rises and builds, remember that it all fades away.
